The magic is gone
"Nothing left to say anyway now that the magic has gone"—JoeCrocker.
Today, I drove by Sudbury’s original Shroomyz retail store that was on the southeast corner of Durham and Elm Streets. All of the window coverings have been taken down.
Looking inside, you can see the unique wall art that covered one wall.
It is the same at Shroomyz’s second location that was located at the kitty-corner of Durham and Elm Streets. Almost all the paper that covered the windows are gone so everyone can see that the store is empty.
There is a closed sign in the front entrance.
I suppose that the landlords are taking Ontario’s Bill 10 Schedule 8 seriously.
For more information on Bill 10, read my June 2025 essay below.
There is a song about this:
“Now that the magic has gone
You just wanna walk away
Nothing left to say anyway
Now that the magic has gone
There's no sense in holding on.
Baby now, now that the magic is gone.”
—by Joe Cocker (1991)
Toronto is different
Shroomyz sidewalk bollards weren’t permitted, city says, but can remain for now
Magic mushrooms, or psilocybin mushrooms, are illegal across Canada, though many stores operate in Toronto unauthorized and are frequently raided by police.
