Strawberry picking
Picking strawberries is a great way to spend a day
One of the joys of living in Sudbury is strawberry picking.
Chelmsford is a small community that is part of Greater Sudbury. It is a comfortable 17-minute drive from our home in downtown Sudbury. We visited them last Tuesday.
Lisa’s Strawberry Farm has some basic rules for picking strawberries.
Here is a rule that customers need to be aware of.
Lisa’s provides the baskets. Here are the prices. They do not accept credit cards.
Customers are offered a ride out to the fields.
The strawberries are hidden under the wide green leaves. You are never disappointed in the quality of the berries when you pick your own strawberries right off the plants.
It took us about an hour to pick three full baskets.
Then it took the two of us two hours to clean, cut and bag thirty freezer bags of berries. We will enjoy these strawberries throughout the coming year.
We love having them with vanilla ice cream.
Of course, Zorro was very interested in what we were doing. He jumped up onto the top of the fridge to get a bird’s-eye view.
Season ends soon
Strawberry picking will be available for about another week or so. You should phone ahead to see what days the different farms will be open. (The phone number is above.)
